The Adriatic Sea: constant everchanging
Location: Library and reading room Bogdan Ogrizović, Preradovićeva 5, Zagreb
Organized by Croatian Natural History Society
Date: May 4, 2017, starting at 18:00
The lecture will show how and why the Adriatic is constantly changing. The formation of the Adriatic and its geological evolution will be described. Particularly important will be the changes that have taken place in the last 20,000 years and those that are happening today. With reference to the past explorations of the Adriatic (expedition of Vila Velebita and Tegetthoff) and the Physical Map of the Kvarner (Josef Roman Lorenz), the future of Adriatic exploration will be discussed and in particular the need for geological mapping of the Adriatic.
