Report of the second JC of 31/10/2024, the PhenoGeno project

 

The second journal club meeting, and the first as part of the PhenoGeno project, took place on Thursday, October 31, and the topic was the paper "Influence of environmental factors and genetic variation on mitochondrial DNA copy number" (Sanglard et al., 2024). The meeting was very productive and raised many topics and points of contact that are essential for a better understanding and further work on the project. The main conclusions were the finding of new papers that will better explain the relationship between the number and shape of mitochondria with mtDNA, papers that will more clearly define the high heritability values ​​for the mtDNA CN inheritance property and provide which tissues would be most desirable for sampling in further research.
