Report of the fourth GAbridge project journal club, held on January 14th, 2025

The fourth journal club meeting as part of the GAbridge project took place on Tuesday, January 14th. At this meeting, we discussed the paper "A PLAG1 mutation contributed to stature recovery in modern cattle" (Utsunomiya et al., 2017). The paper served as an excellent foundation for discussion on the categorization of our archaeological samples, selection of genes that are of interest when analysing cattle height, but also other traits such as immunity and milk production. At this meeting, we also revisited the paper of Rossi et al. (2024) presented at the previous journal club meeting, this time focusing on the methods used in the analysis. We concluded that more detailed study of the NGSadmix program for analysis is necessary and that greater consideration of the steps in ROH and Fst analysis is needed.
