Report of the fifth GAbridge project journal club, February 11th, 2025

 

The fifth journal club meeting, as part of the GAbridge project, took place on Tuesday, February 11th, 2025. The topic of the meeting was the paper "High-resolution genomic history of early medieval Europe" (Speidel et al., 2025). The authors present a new program, Twigstats, which they claim to significantly enhance the statistical power of analyzing ancestry and admixture models of ancient populations. On this occasion, we discussed the usefulness and applicability of such a program for the needs of the project and future analyses, what is the optimal grouping of our collected samples, and the best methods for visualizing results of our ancestry analyses.
