Report of the sixth GAbridge project journal club, March 14th, 2025
On Friday, March 14th 2025, the sixth journal club as part of the GAbridge project took place. The topic of discussion was the paper "Ancient genomics and the origin, dispersal, and development of domestic sheep" (Daly et al., 2025) and presents 118 new aDNA sequences of ancient sheep from numerous sites throughout Europe and Asia. The group is very interested in the study results, but also the analysis methods used by the authors, such as PBS (population branch statistics) and LASER PCA, which the group will look further into. PBS (population branch statistics) was compared with ARG (ancient recombination graphs) as a method to search for and analyze genes under selection, which will be an important part of the result analysis in the GAbridge project.
