Report of the forth JC of 01/14/2025, the PhenoGeno project

The fourth meeting of the Journal Club (JC) within the PhenoGeno project was held on Friday, 14 January 2025. The topic of the meeting was the scientific paper entitled "Mitochondrial DNA copy number and biogenesis in different tissues of dairy cows in early and late lactation"; (Laubenthal et al., 2016). In addition to the analysis of this paper, the methods and materials from the research presented at the previous JC meeting, held on 6 December 2024, based on the work of Gupta et al. (2023), were also discussed. During the meeting, a constructive and interdisciplinary discussion was held that covered key aspects related to metabolic energy production in dairy cows, specific energy requirements during different phases of lactation, as well as adaptation mechanisms of the organism. Key points of interest were identified that will serve as a basis for further research activities within the PhenoGeno project.
