Report of the forth JC of 03/24/2025, the PhenoGeno project

The sixth meeting of the Journal Club (JC) within the PhenoGeno project was held on Monday, March 24. The topic of the meeting was the scientific paper “Thinking Outside the Nucleus: mtDNA Copy Number in Health and Disease” (Castellani et al., 2020). During the meeting, an informative and constructive discussion was held on the application of the findings from this paper within the project. Special emphasis was placed on the suitability of blood as a tissue sample for analysis and on the methodology for calculating mitochondrial DNA copy number (mtDNA-cn).
