Report of research visit to Roslin Institute, Edinburgh, Scotland, October 1st to 30th 2025
PhD student Ivana Keršić and another colleague from the research group, PhD student Zvonimir Mijadžiković, spent a month on a research visit to the Roslin Institute in Edinburgh, Scotland, under the mentorship of prof. Gregor Gorjanc in the Highlander Lab research group. During the visit, they learned about ancient recombination graphs (ARG), a new emerging method and format of trees that are becoming more frequently used in research in population genetics; and how to use them as part of their doctoral research. In doing so, they regularly participated in weekly meetings of the research group, weekly journal club meetings and participated in other activities of the group. During this visit, they gained new knowledge, advice and suggestions from other doctoral students and experienced researchers at the institute.
