Report of the eleventh GAbridge project journal club, November 13th, 2025

 

The eleventh GAbridge journal club took place on Thursday, November 13th, 2025. PhD student Ivana Keršić presented the preprint "Old Goats: 3,000 years of genetic connectivity of the domestic goat in Ireland" (Findlater et al., 2025). The work is very interesting to the research group because of the general concept and the methods employed in the study, which are very close to the group's goals. The main discussion focused on the imputation pipeline on ancient genomes, the parameters used and how we could apply the same to our samples. Other analyses in the paper were also discussed, such as ROH (runs of homozygosity) analysis and how we could use a different approach to improve this type of analysis in our future work, based on the group's experience with ROH analysis on modern samples.
