Report of the fifteenth GAbridge project journal club, January 29th, 2026

 

The fifteenth GAbridge journal club was held on Thursday, January 29, 2026. PhD student Zvonimir Mijadžiković presented the paper "Iron age genomic data from Althiburos – Tunisia renew the debate on the origins of African taurine cattle" (Ginja et al., 2023), focusing exclusively on the methods and analyses carried out in the paper due to how close the topic of the paper is to our research group's project aims. The discussion of the work opened up questions about the way we use tools like MapDamage and BEAST, which samples from the paper should be included in the reference data set for our analyses, and which species to use as an outgroup in population analyzes of ancient DNA cattle.
