Report of the eighteenth GAbridge project journal club, March 4th, 2026
The eighteenth GAbridge journal club meeting took place on Wednesday, March 4th, 2026. PhD student Ivana Keršić presented the paper "Cattle on the rocks: Understanding cattle mobility, diet, and seasonality in the Iberian Peninsula. The Middle Neolithic site of Cova de les Pixarelles (Tavertet, Osona)" (Fors et al., 2025). The work is interesting to us because it focuses on one specific archeological site and carries out a detailed study and analysis of the faunal remains, among which there is a high proportion of cattle. They conduct several different analyses based on isotopes, which aim to deepen and expand the context of ancient samples in the form of diet, movement and reproduction patterns of ancient cattle at the site, and the group was interested in discussing which of the methods could be interesting if, in the future, we wanted to investigate some of the important Croatian Neolithic sites in similar detail.
