Report of the nineteenth GAbridge project journal club, March 25th, 2026

 

The nineteenth GAbridge journal club took place on Wednesday, March 25th, 2026. PhD student Ivana Keršić presented a preprint of the paper "Seven Millennia of Human Exploitation drove genomic Changes in Iberian Sheep" (Miranda et al., 2026). The paper is specific in that it investigates the influence of human selection on the demographic dynamics of sheep in the western Mediterranean, comparing ancient samples with a modern sheep breed from Corsica. Comparison of ancient animals from Croatian sites to contemporary Croatian breeds is one of the goals of the GAbridge project, and the group discussed the strategies the authors used to approach this topic.
