This project is an innovative opportunity to mend several gaps in the research capacity in Croatian in Archaeology, Genetics, and other ‘Sciences of the Past’ by twinning a consortium of Croatian researchers (CrEAMA Initiative) with archaeological scientists from the University of Cambridge (UCAM) and the University of Pisa (UP).
This project will unlock the latent scientific potential by developing multi-inter-trans- disciplinary (MIT disciplinary) expertise. Our ultimate vision is to develop a research group capable of using an MIT disciplinary approach to Sciences of the Past; this will be a powerful force for innovation and will contribute to resolving contemporary issues.

Work Package 1: Project Management (ManagePro)
Project management will ensure the timely and legal execution of the contract, and the experience of UCAM and UP administrators in H2020 project administration will be twinned with administrators from HR.
In this work package all planning, coordination, and supervision of support actions will be performed. It will also deal with all financial aspects of the Project, including the coordination of mobilities, as well as the organization of meetings and submission of reports to the Research Executive Agency.
WP1: Project Management: Ino Čurik / Preston Miracle
OBJECTIVES:
1.1 To coordinate and manage the Project, ensuring that all project goals are fulfilled and its outcomes delivered in a timely manner and within the legal framework of the EU.
1.2 To manage legal, financial, administrative, technical and ethical aspects of the Project, and to promote gender equality in the Project.
1.3 To identify, manage and resolve potential risks, changes (internal or external), unforeseen problems and conflicts regarding the execution of the Project’s work plan.
1.4 To build up international project management experience of CrEAMA, providing advicemodels of good practice from Cambridge and Pisa to CrEAMA Initiative.
1.5 To establish protocols and share good practice for MIT disciplinary collaboration management, encouraging and stimulating CrEAMA Initiative for future applications to EU-funded and nationally-funded programmes.
Work Package 2: Twinning and Integrating Plant Genetics with Archaeobotany and Geoarchaeology (TwInGAG)
The goal of this work package is to boost the know-how capacity of disciplines that provide information and data about past climates, environments, and the non-human biota, as well as to promote their MIT disciplinary integration with each other and with Genetics, in Croatia.
Know-how boosting and building will be achieved through workshops, summer schools, and mobilities of CrEAMA Initiative scientists to Pisa and Cambridge.
WP2: Twining and Integrating Plant Genetics with Archaeobotany and Geoarchaeology: Renata Šoštarić / Marta Pappalardo
OBJECTIVES:
2.1 To boost the know-how capacity in Geoarchaeology and Geomorphology in Croatia.
2.2 To boost the know-how capacity in Archaeobotany in Croatia.
2.3 To boost the know-how capacity in Palaeontology in Croatia.
2.4 To build know-how in plant Archaeogenetics in Croatia.
2.5 To integrate Genetics with Archaeobotany in Croatia.
Work Package 3: Twinning and Integrating Animal Genetics with Zooarchaeology (TwInAGZoo)
Activities related to boosting the know-how capacity in Croatia of disciplines related to past animals and humans, and their MIT disciplinary integration will be organized in this work package.
Know-how boosting and building will be achieved through workshops, summer and autumn schools, and mobilities of CrEAMA Initiative scientists to Pisa and Cambridge.
WP3: Twining and Integrating Animal Genetics with Zooarchaeology: Vlatka Čubrić Čurik / Damiano Marchi
OBJECTIVES:
3.1 To build know-how in geometric mophometric research capacity in Croatia.
3.2 To build know-how about the infrastructural requirements for Archaeogenetics.
3.3 To integrate Genetics with Zooarcheology in Croatia.
Work Package 4: Twining and Integrating Genetics with Sciences of the Past (TwInGeSP)
An integrated and holistic understanding of the human past requires a MIT disciplinary approach. Such an approach allows one to investigate issues which might frequently be considered out of reach by traditional means; our use of the term ‘Sciences of the Past’ and the CrEAMA Initiative reflect our commitment and investment in MIT disciplinary science.
This work package builds on the experiences and results of knowledge transfer, know-how boosting, and integration of WP2 by promoting an explicitly MIT disciplinary approach. The promotion of a MIT disciplinary approach will be achieved through workshops, summer schools, and mobilities of the CrEAMA Initiative scientists to Cambridge and/or Pisa.
WP4: Twining and Integrating Genetics with Sciences of the Past: Siniša Radović / Giovanni Boschian
OBJECTIVES:
4.1 To stimulate a MIT disciplinary approach to Sciences of the Past within the Project and in Croatia.
4.2 To integrate Archaeobotany with the Sciences of the Past in Croatia.
4.3 To integrate Genetics with the Sciences of the Past in Croatia.
4.4 To boost a MIT disciplinary approach to the Sciences of the Past among the CrEAMA Initiative scientists and in Croatia.
Work Package 5: Project Dissemination (ProDiss)
The purpose of this work package is multifaceted, major goals being:
1) to introduce and inform general public in Croatia (and Europe) of the importance and relevance of employing MIT disciplinary approach in studying the past;
2) to disseminate the results and share the experiences and practices of using a MIT disciplinary approach among the scientific peer community in Croatia and Europe;
3) to use the unique body of knowledge created by our MIT disciplinary approach to add value and develop sustainable tourism on the Eastern Adriatic Coast; and
4) to integrate the CrEAMA Initiative within the European Research Area.
WP5: Project Dissemination: Davorka Radovčić / Toomas Kivisild
OBJECTIVES:
5.1. To popularise the Sciences of the Past in Croatia and Europe.
5.2. To increase the visibility of the CrEAMA Initiative within the scientific community in
Croatia and Europe.
5.3. To integrate the Sciences of the Past with sustainable tourism in Croatia.
5.4. To integrate the CrEAMA Initiative within the ERA.
